This purple base plate is the same size and thickness as the original brand name. The dimensions are 10 inches by 10 inches. The plastic feels stiffer than that of the original brand name that it's a clone of. Also, it is slightly heavier that the original brand name version, but not by much. It was pretty nice that there were four base plates in the set as out son loves his interconnecting blocks wither it be a name brand or a generic version or even larger version blocks. I tried this with my son's toys and am able to confirm that it is indeed compatible with Lego, Lego Duplo, and Mega Blocks. My son has already placed the construction set on these base plates, apparently the team is building a house for the people. Never a dull moment. I would recommend this Pack to anyone or anyone with a child who either enjoys casually building with interconnecting blocks.
